This may come as a shock to many of you, but sometimes the liberal media lies. Duh… These so-called media outlets have been intentionally painting a rose blossom picture of protesters in Portland who would like nothing better than to be left alone to go about their business as usual.
Portland’s Mayor, Ted Wheeler, even went as far as to issue this dumbfounding statement. “We believe in the power of government to work for all Portlanders. We work every single day to build a community that enjoys economic prosperity, a healthy environment, affordable homes, and a safe place to live and thrive.”
We call bunk. The freewheeling Mr. Wheeler has made every effort possible to remove the Feds from his fair city, preferring to take the side of Antifa, Boogaloo, Black Lives Matter, and any and all leftist anarchists groups who choose to show up on Portland’s doorstep.
Donald Trump, seeing all he needed to see, came to the rescue of everyday Portlanders who would like nothing better than for the city to be a safe place to live. And you can bet, they’re glad he did. But the liberal media doesn’t want anyone to know about these innocent folks who are living in fear. It isn’t what their readers and viewers would have any interest in.
One brave AP reporter decided, for the sake of reality, to once and for all give a firsthand account of what’s really happening on ground zero. What makes him so brave, you ask?
The reporter, Mike Balsamo, figured the only way to accurately report the real story would be to embed with the Feds. Balsamo joined up with them on the front lines without the benefit of any weapons, and with only minimal protective gear.
Balsamo tweeted, “We wanted to show you a look inside the protests from both perspectives — out in the crowd with protesters and inside the courthouse with federal officers. It was a really eye-opening experience to see it firsthand. I was inside the courthouse & @gflaccus was outside the fence.”
Gillian Flaccus, whom Balsamo was referring to in the tweet, is a video journalist who came along to capture events as they unfolded. And boy, did they ever unfold.
It’s estimated that roughly 4000 of Portland’s finest protesters converged on the cities Federal Courthouse, and there nothing rosy about the scene whatsoever.
Though the courthouse is now surrounded by a huge fence, it didn’t stop the anarchist mob from hurling baseball-sized hunks of concrete and launching all manner of fireworks at the building as they screamed and chanted their hateful message.
From Balsamo’s vantage point inside of the courthouse, he personally witnessed six federal officers sustain injuries. One of the officers took a direct hit from a firework that left the man extremely bloodied.
Here is how Balsamo described the scene: “I spent the weekend inside the Portland federal courthouse w/ the US Marshals. Mortars were being fired off repeatedly, fireworks & flares shot into the lobby, frozen bottles, concrete, cans & bouncy balls regularly whizzed over the fence at high speeds.” Real peaceful, huh?
The reporter went on to say, “It was a really eye-opening experience to see it firsthand.” He went on to state how the officers are continuously in fear for their lives.
A Deputy U.S. Marshall who preferred to remain anonymous, had this to say. “It’s scary. You open those doors out when the crowd is shaking the fence, and … on the other side of that fence are people that want to kill you because of the job we chose to do and what we represent.”
So while the lying liberal media would have us believe a love-fest is taking place in the streets of Portland, Balsamo’s firsthand account says differently.
Now only one question remains. Who would you rather believe? Yeah. We thought so.
