Texas Representative and proud Republican Ted Cruz has a knack for putting others in their place, especially when it comes to the ridiculous politics of the Democratic left.
But just as talented as he is at doing this, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has an even bigger penchant for being flattened by him after trying to take him on.
As one of the freshmen “squad,” AOC has found herself biting off more than she can chew on quite a few occasions, and her conversations and political discourse with Cruz are no exception.
In fact, the two have gone at, with Cruz giving the final blow so many times that you’d think the uppity New Yorker would have learned her lesson by now.
But their latest squabble proves that she hasn’t. Not in the least.
Cruz recently made a Twitter post, suggesting that the Democratic Party as a whole supports “the riots. The vandals. The anarchists.” And he went on to claim that this group of reprobates are the party’s “base. And they’re terrified to offend them.”
AOC must have been offended herself upon seeing this, as she not so smartly retweeted the post, adding her own comment. She claims that since Joe Biden, a formerly known centrist, was chosen as the party’s presidential nominee, this meant that the party was anything but radical.
She wrote, “Yes, that is precisely why the party nominated… Joe Biden.”
But, of course, Cruz is too intelligent to buy into AOC’s claims.
Instead, he swatted right back, calling her a very part of that radical base. Furthermore, he challenged her to dispute the positions that make her such.
He asked, “Do you support: 1) Tearing down statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln? 2) Destroying Mt. Rushmore. 3) Abolishing the police. 4) Acquiescing to “autonomous” lawless zones CHAZ/CHOP? 5) ANTIFA mob violence?”
As the list implies, anyone who supports such causes is against America and radical in their belief that she should be changed so drastically and immediately. And at this point, it’s pretty common knowledge that AOC supports all of these.
In fact, she has even gone to social media to purport them, with “ANTIFA mob violence,” “Acquiescing to ‘autonomous’ lawless zones,” and “Abolishing the police” at the top of her list. Of course, we can’t forget about her other “radical” issues, such as open borders and the anti-semitic support of the BDS movement against Israel.
Furthermore, saying that the party chose Joe Biden as its nominee is of little consequence. Sure, the man is not nearly as radical in his ideas as Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. But he certainly isn’t a true moderate or centrist anymore either.
Maybe when his presidential campaign began, we could have said that. But now, definitely not.
Think about it. When Biden first began his race for the White House, he was running on his long and moderate past in the Senate, as well as in the office of Vice President.
He supported police unions. He is famous for his 1994 crime bill that increased law and order throughout the nation. He was against the legalization of marijuana. And he was also a big supporter of the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits abortions from being funded by taxpayer dollars.
And now that he has to appease the masses, which include the very liberal and radical left that AOC is clearly a part of, he has flip-flopped on all of these issues. He has thoroughly and officially kicked his moderation to the curb and replaced it with the ideals of the most radical portion of his party.
Besides, even if Biden is still a bit to the center of left, it has become painfully apparent that his VP certainly won’t be. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Stacey Abrams, Tammy Duckworth, Gretchen Whitmer. You tell me which one of those women is anything but radical.
If AOC were really concerned with proving that she and her party weren’t moving farther and farther to the left, she would, at the very least, attempt to respond to Cruz’s accusations.
Then again, doing so would only prove her even more of a liar and a hypocrite than we already know. The best thing she can do at this point is to sit down and shut up.
