Election security is paramount on the minds of both of the major political parties in the United States and conservatives are particularly concerned about proposed mail-in voting.
According to former Clinton campaign adviser Dick Morris’s interview on 2020 Sunday, the presidential election will no doubt be drug out if mail-in voting is the method used by any number of (or worse yet, all) swing states in what will likely be a hotly contested election.
Morris predicted that the election will likely end up being decided by not only the Supreme court but come down to just the vote of Chief Justice John Roberts. His assessment is due to not only the climate of voter sentiment throughout the nation, but the political sentiments of the SCOTUS at the moment.
The former democratic campaign adviser set the stage for his conjecture:
“The blue state governors are mailing out tens of millions of ballots, and they’re going to be returned with a vote on them, probably for Biden,” Morris told host John Catsimatidis.
“And those people will not go to the polls to vote on Election Day. So what you’re probably looking at is that you’re going to have on election night a report that Trump carried … all of the potential swing states. And they’ll say that Trump has 330-350 electoral votes and won a landslide. And then, day after day, week after week, you’re going to find another million ballots counted here, another half-million there, another quarter of a million in another place. And gradually, these Democratic liberal secretaries of state who are in charge of the election in most of these blue states will say, ‘Oh, well, we’re sorry. It turns out Biden carried Wisconsin, not Trump.’”
No matter the result of the election, there will likely be no shortage of irate voters, possibly bringing an already contentious population to the boiling point, which according to Morris can have only one result:
“… there certainly will be major conflict. I hope there won’t be civil war and it’s serious enough that” he said, going on to clarify that he didn’t “take [the] question metaphorically” concerning a potential civil war.
The former campaign adviser went on to say that he doesn’t think that will be the end of the dispute, however, even if blue states that enact mail-in voting declare former Vice President Joe Biden the winner of their state.
“Then the Trump people will sue. But that suit will have to be in state court. The state court judges are largely liberal, largely Democrat. And they are going to say, ‘Oh, we rule in favor of the state: Biden carried it.’”
Morris said he thinks the dispute will then go to federal courts and eventually the Supreme Court, who will be tasked with making the historic decision of who wins the 2020 presidential election.
“And then the entire election will be in the hands literally of John Roberts. And we’ll see what he’ll do,” Morris said.
While it’s clear to see that the COVID lockdown and ensuring panic came at a highly covenant time for Democrats who will likely need a backup plan if Biden can’t carry presidential debates and the ensuing election. That fear, according to President Donald Trump, is forcing Democrats to seek other means to ensure they’ll win back the White House in 2020.
According to Morris, “they’re going to deliberately game the system by sending out millions and millions of mail-in ballots for people that don’t exist or have already voted,” Morris added.
“And the states will not verify the signatures, because they are under the control of Democrats. And the courts will validate that process because they’re controlled by Democrats.”
