The New York Times may be providing the scoop here but this newspaper has never found a story that they cannot spin and politicize to their own benefit. This story is certainly no different. The headline says it all: In Politically Charged Inquiry, Durham Sought Details About Scrutiny of Clintons. The angle that they are working here is beyond obvious, isn’t it?
The authors are far too busy laying all of their partisan groundwork. In fact, the actual news is barely discussed. That is The New York Times for you. They have never met a story that they couldn’t try to spin to their liking. The piece is full of all sorts of explicit framing and some of these paragraphs are absolutely hilarious if you are someone who is not prone to being led astray.
“From the beginning, John H. Durham’s inquiry into the Russia investigation has been politically charged. President Trump promoted it as certain to uncover a “deep state” plot against him, Attorney General William P. Barr rebuked the investigators under scrutiny, and he and Mr. Durham publicly second-guessed an independent inspector general and traveled the globe to chase down conspiracy theories,” the piece reads.
If you are able to get past all of the framing, the piece does contain some actual news. While there is no sourcing information to be had at the moment, we do have some educated guesses. John H. Durham’s attempts at unpacking the Russian investigations have been filled with all sorts of political intrigue. Some probably remember President Trump’s “deep state” declaration.
Attorney General William P. Barr has been second-guessing the investigation for some time now as well. As for Durham, he is seeking any documents and interviews that can provide any further background on the matter. The Clinton Foundation allegations were also of great interest to him. Former law enforcement officials declined to speak with him, though.
They did not believe that the nature of his inquiry was normal. Staff members are even approaching current FBI agents to speak about the inquiry. At this point, no one knows what they have or have not told investigators. We are willing to bet that any information that has been provided about the investigation is coming from the aforementioned law enforcement officials who declined to speak.
The authors who wrote this story may as well have called it a witch hunt and been done with it. That’s all they wanted to say and it’s beyond obvious to anyone who took the time to read. The more troubling information about the Clinton Foundation is eventually shared but the paragraph is a very awkward one.
It is suggested that Hillary Clinton was involved in some sort of quid pro quo, where the foundation received sizable donations in exchange for some very questionable support. Uranium One is the company in question and if that name sounds foreboding to you, that’s because it is. They are a Russian nuclear agency. The deal received the necessary approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
The negotiations unfolded while Hillary Clinton was serving under Barack Obama, as Secretary of State. The New York Times was kind enough to link to a 2015 piece about this matter. All things considered, this may be one of the best pieces of investigative reporting in some time….for them. The bar is in the basement when it comes to the New York Times but they certainly have their moments.
The piece, which is entitled “Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal”, is a great read. The evidence is damning. You are definitely going to want to read it for yourself. The Clinton family is always finding themselves in hot water because of their willingness to lie, cheat, and steal. Maybe they should start doing a better job of not getting caught in the act going forward. The lies need to stop now.
