Pelosi Says that the Present Supreme Court is ‘Dangerous’ for Families

It’s been 50 years since the Supreme Court made abortion on demand legal in the United States. Ever since that decision, those who believe that there is life in the womb at conception have been working and hoping for conservative justices who would be willing to overturn that landmark decision.

The Right to Life movement has been carrying the emotional burden that abortion ends the life of a baby, a person, a human being. With such life and death stakes, the right has never crossed the line of picketing liberal justice’s homes and their rhetoric has never been calling the liberal justices “dangerous.”

You can not say the same thing for the progressive left today. One of their leaders, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif), said this weekend that the current Supreme Court is “dangerous” for both families and freedom in the United States as the present court stands ready to overturn the 1973 decision.

Pelosi made this shocking statement while interviewing Dana Bush on CNN’s “State of the Union.” The House Speaker blasted that if the High Court overturns Roe v. Wade, watch out because marriage equality would be next.

“Let’s not take our eye off the ball. The ball is this court, which is dangerous to the freedoms of our country. Beware in terms of marriage equality, beware in terms of other aspects of it, and so it is, let’s not waste our time on that,” Pelosi said.

She went on to describe how the present makeup of the court is dangerous to families so people need to mobilize without apology. She said that elections have consequences.

Speaker Pelosi made sure to point out that it was former President Trump who appointed three conservative justices to the bench of the Supreme Court during his four years in office. But look at how she described the former president: “Who would have ever suspected that a creature like Donald Trump would become president of the United States.”

She talked about Trump waving a list of judges during his campaign and that he was able to get the support of the far-right to appoint what she called “anti-freedom” justices to the court.

She lamented in the CNN interview that Democrats should have been better prepared for the “attack” on abortion rights after the leaked opined came to light revealing that the court is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Pelosi vowed that she and her colleagues were in it for the “long game,” that they won Roe v. Wade a long time ago and have continually voted to protect the decision. She bragged about the country voting in a Democratic House of Representatives. But she warned that they could not “take our eye off the ball.” And she made it clear that “the ball” is the Supreme Court.

Of all things, Pelosi used her Catholic faith to support the pro-choice stance. She said that a woman’s right to end her pregnancy was something that was between a woman and “her god.” She said that a woman’s decision should not be up to the “Donald Trump-appointees” on the court.

Pelosi and Vice President Harris led a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act. The legislation needed 60 votes to advance, but it only received 51. President Biden immediately lashed out at the GOP for blocking the bill at a time when “women’s constitutional rights are under unprecedented attack.”

The rhetoric from the left could not be more highly charged right now. The left’s vehemence is shocking and one wonders what might happen if it escalates.
