Relax they said. No one is going to come for your precious guns they said. Well. So far this holds true. But if the Supreme Court rules in favor of what they’ve already agreed to take a look-see at, it’ll be one giant step for every liberal in America and a big enough one to keep the Biden train of tighter gun control speeding down its socialist track. Coming soon to a town near you…
The case stems out of New York where violence has become the order of the day, over a person’s right to pack a pistol in public if they claim it’s for self-defense purposes only. It can only be hoped that the High Court bases their decision on the bad apple streets of NYC alone and not implement any new restrictions on the real America outside of its crime-infested borders.
Bear in mind, the Supreme Court enjoys a 6-3 conservative majority though it may not be apparent by the way some of them have been voting lately. But this is their first belly flop into gun rights since Justice Amy Coney Barrett bellied up to the holiest of tables in October. And the right to bear firearms rights is a completely different constitutional matter that conservatives generally stand solidly behind. But don’t jump the gun…
Immediately following the recent mass shootings in California, Colorado, Indiana, Georgia, and with other smaller-scale shootings being reported daily, this could not come at a worse time. The eyes of the nation are watching as SCOTUS mulls over a recent lower-court ruling that kept New York’s over-the-top restrictions for gun ownership, cemented in place.
Need we point out how well these restrictive measures have been working out for the terrified residents of NYC so far? Didn’t think so. Another matter to consider is how the state’s restrictive measures are in direct violation of New York Civil Rights Law art. II, § 4, which states that “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed.”
This same issue was presented to the Supreme Court in June prior to the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but due to her vote and influence, the matter was rejected and never seen. But Barrett’s presence could alter the direction of Ginsburg’s steadfast path.
Again, don’t jump the Remington. An even larger factor to be considered is how roughly 74% of all confiscated firearms in NYC are illegal, so the Court might concede by allowing the strict laws to remain in place for all of the good they’ve never done.
In most states carrying a weapon in public is Okie-Dokie, even without a permit. Strap ‘er on and go. Many states don’t even require a conceal permit for those who prefer to not appear as obvious. West Virginia is one of those though they do offer a permit for traveling out-of-state and it’s simple to get.
New York, along with California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, are terrible states to live in for anyone who endorses our God-given right to bear arms.
The worn-out cliche of “If you take away our guns only bad people will have them,” has never proven more accurate than in the case of New York, and more specifically, NYC. If the case falls flat on its face, which is the best anyone can hope for, all will remain well, at least for now. But if it goes the wrong way, lookout. Biden and his liberal cast of idiot followers will be mounting up, coming, and they’ll be coming in strong.
Are you ready?
New York is among eight states that limit who has the right to carry a weapon in public. The others are California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
In the rest of the country, gun owners have little trouble legally carrying their weapons when they go out.
The case probably will be argued in the fall.
The court had turned down a review of the issue in June, before Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.
